Crafty Moments: Egg Carton Spiders
Hey, these little critters were bucketloads of fun... and cute... even if I do say so myself. I think I've found my calling... as long as I don't have to do beautiful, I can do kiddy craft! Yeah!
At the request of the team leader and because I was rostered on, I did these up for our playgroup today (Friday) and experimented a little with colour and materials. The 3 year old painted the brown one and I helped her with the legs .
Materials:
A used egg carton cut into 6 segments. Each segment is made up of 2 cups.
2-4 strips of pipe cleaners (can be cut into quarters or halves) per spider
Googley eyes
Paint: colour of your choice
PVA glue (gluesticks are pretty useless in this sort of craft)
Embellishments (sequins, buttons)
Your best pair of scissors
You don't really need instructions, right? If I can do it without instructions, I'm sure you can too. And er... longer spider legs, for some reason look a lot sexier...
Not sure what that says about me.

ReplyDeleteYN... Depending on the age of your kids, you may end up doing most of the heavy lifting. At least they can paint it beforehand and glue the eyes later.

ReplyDeleteLove them! Have been wondering how to put my egg cartons to good use.
