A Window into Life in the Suburbs

"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Luke 12:27 (NIV)

"I thought Daddy knew everything."

I rummage through my dusty craft collection for a school project. I pull out a handful of polished stones that I bought while holidaying in Cairns almost 6 years ago. The 9 year old asks
"Mum, what are they called?"
"I don't know... probably agate... I'm not sure. All it says on the pack is that they are polished stones. Ask Daddy, he might know."
"Yeah... Daddy knows everything."
My back turned, I roll my eyes.

Ten seconds later, she returns...

"Daddy doesn't know. I thought Daddy knew everything."
The husband echoes the sentiment with his usual matter-of-fact modesty.
"Daddy doesn't know everything. Nobody does." I mutter disagreeably.
A moment of confusion and a revelation.
"Yeah, Daddy doesn't know everything. Only God knows everything."
